A new year - a new emerging artist

A new year - a new emerging artist

January is typically our 'give back' month when we showcase a talent we haven't seen or heard much about. So we would like to introduce the amazingly talented oil painter Georgia Parkin Jones. Formerly a resident of North Cornwall Georgia loves to work on big canvases and within her collection Something About A River was the exceptional piece - Ebb & Flow - an Oil and charcoal painting on canvas which had been stretched over a pine measured 120 cm x 90 cm. We can't lie it was a challenge to hang but once in the window it was a real show stopper, especially on a...

A splash of festive colour

A splash of festive colour

A splash of colour and some wild broad strokes enticed visitors in for our popular weekly late night shopping events in December. Of course the smell of mulled wine and home made Christmas spiced biscuits played a part too. It was a lovely end to a year of some great exhibitions. As with Helen Trevaskis in late November, Robyn Weldon had fallen victim to the retail closures at the beginning of the year. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Apologies for so shamelessly starting the season early, but our latest exhibition by Wendy Horner so beautifully complimented the silver and gold tones so customarily associated with Christmas that we had to put our Christmas stock out on display. The sparkly vibe in the gallery has also prompted us to get our arses into gear early this year and announce our late night shopping events and christmas opening hours. So here goes... We will be opening for two Saturday evenings (November 27th and December 4th) to coincide with Helen Trevaskis latest exhibition and the Penryn town council's annual light switch. The latter is going to be...

A little bit of rebellion

A little bit of rebellion

In the summer, we heard the exciting news that a book festival would take place in Falmouth. As many of you know, we have stocked a variety of book genres from Cornish authors in the gallery shop, so we were keen to be involved. The Writers Collective has office space within our studios, and they were also keen to jump on the tails of the festival to highlight the talent of our local authors. The Collective has been trying to run a series of talks from our event space since 2019. However, COVID has called a halt to their plans on...

The Gallery on tour

The Gallery on tour

This summer saw us take the gallery on tour to Falmouth Poly. It was the first event of its kind for us as we don't typically hold mixed shows. However, this exhibition had a different ambition - it was more of a celebration of what we do. At the gallery, we focus on solo exhibitions of up and coming contemporary and abstract local artists. On the 27th of July of this year, we broke that tradition to celebrate all our 2021 exhibitors. The brainchild of our gallery manager, who curated the show, we sent out a request to this years exhibiting...
