Staying positive on our birthday

Staying positive on our birthday

Today marks a memorable day in our calendar as The Terrace Gallery has now been trading for a whole year!! We would love to say that our doors have been open for an entire year, but that’s not entirely true, as the lockdown will have shaved off seven months from our calendar by the time we reopen in April.  This last stretch has been the toughest, as we haven’t celebrated our achievement with any of our lovely supporters. Determined not to miss out, we have devised a cunning plan to hold an official first birthday party over the bank holiday...

2021 Emerging artists

2021 Emerging artists

With all the turbulence of 2020, we consciously left the design of our marketing literature until quite late. An interesting year

An interesting year

As the end of the year approaches, it's a natural time to review how our first year panned out. The painful struggle that many small shopkeepers have had to endure after four months of closure as a non-essential shop has left them teetering on the ridge of survival. So everything we can do to keep our high streets alive...

Fiesta time

Fiesta time

This Christmas we are bringing some colour and joy to the gallery with a delicious selection of vibrant work from the renowned abstract artist Ashley Hanson and fiesta-themed crockery supplied by our stockists snowbunting.  Ashley's work is vivid and exciting. His abstract paintings use colour to create contrast, tension and arouse emotion. Inspired by his painting course in the beautiful Old Lifeboat House studio in Porthleven, Ashley's work typically starts with a drawing session before the sketches were abstracted and worked up with collage and colour into templates for his paintings. The result is a contrast of thick and thin paint where layers...
